Michael’s parents moved to Cote Hill Farm in 1962 and established a dairy herd in 1963. Michael joined the business in 1973, growing the herd and expanding the milking herd to one hundred milkers.
Due to the continual low milk price Michael and Mary decided to add value to their milk by making cheese. Cote Hill Blue and Cote Hill Yellow were launched in 2004. Their son Joe joined the business in 2010 and he created and developed Cote Hill Lindum and Cote Hill Red. Recently Cote Hill White and Cote Hill Snowdrop have been added to the range.
Due to economic factors the Cote Hill dairy herd was sold recently and our cheese is now made with locally sourced Lincolnshire milk. The good news is our cheeses are just as delicious as when we started making them 20 years ago.
Over the last twenty years our cheese have achieved many successes including a Gold at the World Cheese Awards, The British Cheese Awards, The Great Yorkshire Show, The Artisan Cheese Awards and in 2024 The Supreme Champion at the British Cheese Awards for the Snowdrop.
